Cryogenic Spinning Scroll Pump Animation

A spinning scroll (often called a “co-rotating scroll”) is a device that can be used as a compressor, expander, or vacuum pump. This animation demonstrates the unique rotary motion during operation of a cryogenic scroll pump designed by Air Squared.

A spinning scroll is similar to an orbiting scroll, but instead of one scroll remaining fixed while the other scroll orbits, both scrolls rotate on an eccentric axis. The relative motion that occurs is the same as an orbiting scroll.
