Headquartered twenty-five miles outside of Denver, ourcentral location in the foothillsof the Rocky Mountains is in close proximity to the country’s largest airport, over sixteen accredited engineering schools, and a wide base of qualified vendors.

1905

Léon Creux awarded first scroll patent

1972

Niels Young, John McCullough, and Robert Shaffer begin scroll compressor research at Arthur D. Little.

1991

Robert Shaffer founds Air Squared, LLC in Cincinnati, OH, with the goal of developing and licensing compressor technology in various market areas.

1995

Air Squared is awarded its first patent for an improved tip seal design in an oil-free scroll compressor, beginning a culture of innovation that leads to over twenty scroll technology-related design patents by 2020.

2010

Air Squared begins in-house scroll machining and receives ISO 9001:2008 certification.

2021

A compact scroll compressor developed by Air Squared operates perfectly on the surface of Mars, helping convert carbon dioxide into oxygen as part of the Mars Oxygen In-Situ Resource Utilization Experiment onboard the Perseverance rover.
