Tritium Vacuum Pump
The V15H34N6.0 tritium vacuum pump is the first hermetic scroll unit to use a bellows, separating the working fluid from ambient.
Developed for Savannah River National Laboratory for processing tritium used in nuclear fuels, the V15H34N6.0 scroll vacuum pump is the first hermetic scroll unit to use a bellows, separating the working fluid from ambient.
To be classified as a hermetic vacuum pump, the V15H34N6.0 incorporates static metal seals. For processing highly corrosive and radioactive tritium gas, the pump has a corrosion-resistant design and eliminates the need for tip seals. It is capable of approx. 12 CFM displacement and vacuums up to 300 Torr.
Asecond-generation V15H34N6.0was developedinDecember, 2014. The prototype incorporates several new design features for tritium compatibility. Testing will continue through 2015.
UPDATE (December 26th, 2018) – Air Squared has released the V16H034A-AC-H-SS all-metal, hermetic, scroll vacuum pump. The next generation design is capable of pumping 15 m3/hr and incorporates several features for improved life and reliability.
