Liquid-Cooled Scroll Compressor for Electric Bus
The P16H043A-AC-LC liquid-cooled scroll compressor is designed to quietly deliver high-pressure air for all-electric bus air-auxiliary systems.
Continuing development of its patented liquid-cooled scroll technology, Air Squared has completed a custom scroll compressor for an electric bus application. The application required an oil-free air compressor capable of delivering 350 lpm v at 10.5 barg with nominal sound levels below 50 dB(A).
With growing populations in urban centers around the world, cities looking to reduce air and noise pollution are turning to all-electric solutions for mass transportation. Without an internal combustion, a significant source of noise on current all-electric solutions for mass transportation is the air compressor used in the air-auxiliary system. This presents an opportunity for oil-free scroll technology, which is known to operate significantly quieter than traditional compressor technology, such as reciprocating.
The P16H043E-AC-LC uses liquid cooling to provide highly effective cooling directly to the fixed scroll and orbiting scroll. For high-pressure operation, liquid-cooled scroll designs have a number of advantages over air-cooled scroll designs, such as increased efficiency, longer service intervals, quieter operation, and better ingress protection.
