Scroll Compressor Animation

A scroll compressor is a device used to compressor air, refrigerant, or other gases. This animation demonstrates the compression process during operation.

In an orbiting scroll compressor, one scroll remains fixed, while the other scroll orbits eccentrically. A fixed volume at the inlet is compressed in the pockets that form between the fixed and orbiting scroll. As the working fluid moves through the scroll involute, the pockets become increasingly smaller, until discharging in the center.
