After over a decade of collaboration with nuclear laboratories across North America, Air Squared has developed a liquid-cooled, all-metal (LCAM) scroll vacuum pump. The V16H034D-BLDC-H-LC LCAM scroll vacuum pump is capable of pumping 15 m3/hr and features integrated water or oil cooling. The patented liquid cooling integrated into the LCAM scroll vacuum pump increases operating efficiencies 30% over a similar air-cooled design and improves life and reliability. The LCAM scroll pump is hermetically sealed and operates without tip seals, which allows for only metallic wetted materials and makes the unit compatible with virtually any working fluid.

The V16H034D-BLDC-H-LC LCAM scroll vacuum pump is the successful culmination of a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) awarded by the US Department of Energy (DOE) under the topic Advanced Technologies and Materials for Fusion Energy Systems.

UPDATE (October 10th, 2018) – After a successful Phase I effort, Air Squared was awarded Phase II SBIR funding to continue development. The Phase II effort will focus on development of a large-scale LCAM vacuum pump with 150 m3/hr pumping capacity and will be complete by 2020.
