With a patented semi-hermetic design and stainless steel construction, the E25H061A-SH-SS scroll expander is compatible with a wide range of working fluids.

Developed for over-the-road trucking applications, the 12 kW scroll expander is designed for an Organic Rankin Cycle (ORC) which recovers wasted heat from diesel engine exhaust and converts it into useful energy.

Its Stainless steel construction allows for compatibility with ethanol, the highly corrosive working fluid of the ORC. Patented semi-hermetic design features provide adequate sealing of the flammable fluid, without the need for dynamic seals.

Testing of initial prototypes showed that overall efficiency of the expander is approaching 80% with lubricated operation.

Update August 8th, 2015 – Air Squared has developedsecond-generation of the 12 kW expander – the E25H074A-SH. The unit features aluminum construction and changes to the scroll involute.

Update May 8th, 2017 – Air Squared has developed athird-generation of the 12 kW expander – the E25H061A-SH-CI. The unit features cast iron construction and changes to the scroll involute.
